LOHMAR – Traditional handing over of donation checks of our “ÜFA” (practice firm lead by our apprentices) at Walterscheid

Our apprentices at Walterscheid accomplish amazing things year after year. During their training, the first-year apprentices in our sales department join the third-year apprentices of the industrial/technical departments to manage their “ÜFA” practice firm. The difference is: this is a real company, not just a pretend firm, and they produce real products in a real market setting.

Walterscheid provides our ÜFA with a seed capital of 5.000 € which must be paid back after the fiscal year. Our apprentices also need to constantly justify their business decisions to the supervisory board. The proof of their economic success was presented during the traditional ceremony under their main motto “You can count on us”.
Our young entrepeneurs produced tools for tube bending and removal as well as coasters that they designed themselves. Total turnover amounted to 29.854,61 €, resulting in total profits of 16.540,16 €. Of those profits, 11.000 € were donated to charities during our ceremony.

“Gänseblümchen NRW e.V.”, an association which offers support to children suffering from cancer, received a donation of 3.500 €. The same amount went to the “Kinderschutzbund Neunkirchen-Seelscheid” (association for child protection). The Children’s home “Pauline von Mallinckrodt” in Siegburg received 4.000 € as a result of a Christmas event organized by our apprentices. The home for children houses 18 groups and many Christmas wishes could be made true.

Our apprentices went out with shopping lists to purchase Christmas gifts and will deliver them personally before the holidays.

Handing over of the checks was not the end of the ceremony after all. Our ÜFA 34 passed the torch to the ÜFA 35 of the new year. Their motto will be “It just fits” and they will try hard to repeat the success of their predecessors. During the 34 years of running our ÜFA projects, a total sum of 311.435 € was donated to charities in the region.
