After the catastrophic floods in the federal states of Rheinland-Pfalz and Nordrhein-Westfalen (Germany), Walterscheid GmbH in Lohmar donates 10.000 € to “Aktion Lichtblicke”, a relief fund for family which supports victims of this year’s horrendous flood.
Our successful campaign “Hearts of Gold” has been active for 15 years and is an essential part of our employees’ lives. Our employees donate hours of social work, cash, and revenues from bottle deposits and scrap sales. In addition, we organize an annual family event for all employees – all our revenues including the proceeds from our raffle flow into the donation amount.
We have been able to collect 62.000 € in the year 2021, even though our family event had to be cancelled due to the pandemic this year. Since the launch of our “Hearts of Gold” initiative, we were able to distribute a total of 797.272,90 € to more than 75 charitable organizations.
It matters a lot to us and our employees to directly help affected people during these difficult times.
The company has already made an immediate donation of 8.000 € to “Hochwasser Soforthilfe” in Lohmar (emergency relief). Employees who are directly affected by the floods receive five extra leave days and employees who travel to affected regions to render aid are granted two days of extra leave.
We will donate the remaining 52.000 € to social organizations in the region over the course of the year.
